Match V Netzhoppers

Well it always great to get the first win of the season, and a solid 3-0 victory was just that. The start was ominious for the Netzhoppers as we jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first set. Netzhoppers then regained some composure to bring it a little closer, but a good run at the end of the set saw us take it to 16. The second set was more closely fought with the teams going point for point up until about 20. It certainly looked and felt like we were the better team throughout the set, but proving it on the scoreboard was a little more difficult. Some big blocks and transition plays at the end of the set saw us take it 25-22. The 3rd was simlar to the 2nd, we were making some nice transition plays only to let ourselves down by making stupid errors like letting a free ball hit the floor. However when push came to shove a block and 2 big transition pipes from Tommy gave us a 24-21 lead. A slight hiccup and a time out later and Mads put away the final ball to give us a 25-23 win and the match.
Although not a perfect match we played some good volleyball. The first set gave the opposition no chance and the way we stepped it up after 20 was also a positive to take. Now we have a solid training week followed by 4 matches in only 2 weeks. This will be a really good test to see what level we are at in compared to the rest of the league.
